Great Gonerby Hill Top Cemetery

 

Fees, Payments and sums fixed and settled under the Local Authorities Cemeteries Order 1977 S.I. 1977 No. 244 Para 15.

 

Exclusive Rights of Burial can only be purchased by a resident of the Civil Parish of Great Gonerby or if due to medical necessity moved into a nursing home, hospice or hospital their last permanent home was in the Parish or by a person having been born in the Parish of Great Gonerby.

 

The fees, payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right of burial is granted is a resident of the Civil Parish of Great Gonerby as per the electoral roll, or, in the case of a still born child, where the parents, or one of them, are such residents. 

 

If the person to be interred is not a resident at the time of death and an Exclusive Right of Burial has already been purchased then the interment fees will be doubled unless due to a medical necessity as above. All interments are at the discretion of the Parish Council.

 

Interments:

The fees indicated for the various heads of Part 1 & 2:

  1. Do not include the digging of the grave.

  2. Apply only where the interment is made between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm on a weekday or on the certificate of a coroner or registered medical practitioner that immediate interment is necessary.

 

Part 1

For the Interment in any Grave in Respect of which an Exclusive Right of Burial has been granted:

  1. Of the body of a still born child, or a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years. - £206.00                                           

  2. Of a body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years. -                                           £388.00

  3. Of Cremated Remains in a grave space. -                                                                                                  £150.00

  4. Grave Maintenance as set out in Supplementary Maintenance Agreement  -                                          £ 30.00

 

Part 2

Exclusive Rights of Burial in Earthen Graves for a Period of 75 Years:

  1. In an earthen grave 8 feet by 4 feet. - £498.00

  2. Of Cremated Remains in an earthen grave 2 feet by 2 feet in the Cremate Remains Section dug double depth. - £394.00                        

  3. Of Cremated Remains in an earthen grave 2 feet by 2 feet in the Cremated Remains Section dug single depth. - £278.00                        

 

Part 3

Headstones, Cremated Remains Plaques and Inscriptions:

For the right to erect on a grave or Cremated Remains Space for a period of 75 years (can be extended on application):

  1. A Headstone as limitations below. -                                                                                                                              £140.00

  2. A Memorial Plaque over Cremated Remains for single plot (18” wide as detailed below)                                       £124.00

 

The fees shown in Part 3 1 & 2 is for the first inscription only, for each additional inscription a fee of £105.00 is charged

 

   3.  A memorial Plaque over Cremated Remains for two plots side by side (24” wide as detailed below).                   £226.00

   4.  A Stone Cube Vase as an alternative to a headstone as detailed below                                                                     £ 97.00

 

The owner of the Grant of Exclusive Rights of Burial (or next of kin) will be responsible for keeping any memorial in a good and safe condition to current industry and health & safety standards at all times. Insurance against accidental damage/vandalism of memorials should be considered.

Limitations:

 

  1. Headstones: Monolithic Headstones with a mock base/plinth set in front with integral flower holders only are allowed. Maximum size, 36” high (above the ground) x 26” wide (inclusive of mock base/plinth). Minimum of 25% or 15” of height, whichever is the greater, below ground level, set directly into the ground in a concrete cradle or shoe.  Photographs at the discretion of the Parish Council, maximum size 3” x 4”.

  2. Non standard shaped headstones at the discretion of the Parish Council.Stone Cube Vases: Maximum 12” Cube.  Glass containers are not permitted.

  3. Cremated Remains Plaques: Desk type plaque 18” wide x 18” long x 4” deep at deepest point with integral flower container over single plot or 24” wide x 18” long x 4” deep at deepest point with1 or 2 integral flower holders over two plots side by side.

 

Desks to be fitted into gravelled plot by means of a spike.

Ground Maintenance: In order to maintain an adequate standard of ground maintenance the following applies:

  1. There can be no boundary markers, fences, stones or kerbs.

  2. No rooted plants/bulbs to be planted or turf or gravel to be removed unless a Grave Maintenance Supplementary Agreement has been entered into.

  3. Ornaments cannot be placed on the surrounding surface. Grants of Exclusive Rights of Burial Conditions 5 a, b & c refer.

  4. No part of the grave space shall be raised above ground level.

  5. Floral tributes placed at the time of interment must be removed within two weeks.

 

The above limitations will be strictly adhered to.

 

The fees and other charges, together with the limitations, were amended by resolution of Great Gonerby Parish Council on 5th November 2023.

 

The fees/charges/limitations to apply from 1st January 2024.
